Back then it was easy. We could even run our bank apps on rooted unlocked phones

Search for lineage os your phone model if you’re lucky someone will have ported the project to your device, the more popular it was the more likely

Your phone will need an unlocked bootloader, and it will not be able to be locked again while running lineage. This will prevent the use of any secure software which includes most bank apps, login authenticators. Local security is entirely bypassed by the unlocked bootloader

As a currently totally “normal user” - no root, stock OS, I would have been screwed by this security while travelling

Driving in Italy you need to know about ZTL zones - places cars are secretly restricted in - and there’s an app for that, but the app is only useful for drivers in Italy and if your phone doesn’t default to the Italian play store you can’t see it

Your only option is to side load it

It would be no fun to get your phone working with ZTLs only to lose access to your bank apps

I got the option after rebooting again after the update’s reboot

I run teams in Firefox and it’s fine. Audio and camera are stable for hours. You can use a private window to test if it’s your extensions

WebEx also has audio settings which teams doesn’t

If you want to carry two phones you could use one for banks and 2 factor authentication, and have root on the other

I occasionally accidentally open the fandom page for a game on Chrome with no ad block (which I keep around for Google apps) and it’s unusable. Go there on Firefox with ublock origin and it’s fine

Download sites for things like Minecraft mods have several competing “download” buttons without ad block
