What beliefs a person holds to themselves is indiferent to me. And it should not matter to anyone. Relationships are a negotiated endeavour, from both parts, where everyone gives a little to reach a mutual understanding.

Unless a person subscribes views capable of leading to individual, personal and socially harmful and regressive thought and action, it does not matter.

Removing the religious view from your question: would you date a vegan, not being one? Would you date a non vegan, being yourself one?

Zealotry goes both ways. Both the believer and the non believer can entrench themselves in their views so deeply they become fanatics.

We could just regulate tech companies and outright ban some practices but since we apparently don’t have time for rational solutions…

Well thought out sabotage can be written off to causality or involuntary human error.

Not giving notice of lay off is an abusive work practice and only shows how far we’ve allowed work conditions to degrade.

And that practice itself can be highly dangerous, if we consider a person can be midway into a complex task that can turn extremely difficult to follow by another: waste of time, resources, energy and money.

Small acts of sabotage are easy to write off to causality, if well planned.

But why have an evaporative cooling system and not use a system similar to internal combustion engines, with a closed circuit system? It would be more economic.

Depends on the amount of treatment steps it undergoes.

Standard procedure is aimed at just removing solid debris and organic matter, to return clarified and chemically balanced water to nature, with no excess nutrients that could feed algae in water streams.

From that point forward, it is just a question of how far the treatment can be taken.

For reuse for cleaning, washing, etc? Maybe it just gets a minute dosage of sodium hypocloride.

Highly sensible areas, like beaches or lakes? UV treatment, maybe followed by micro filtering. Extreme scenarios? Reverse osmosis.

If the protocols in place are strong, it’s safe.

As someone that works in waste water: do it.

The company I worked for made a show of signing a partnership with a beer maker to supply them with water to create a unique batch.

The water had to be mixed with regular water in order to balance out the profile, as the treated water had underwent an aditional step to make it safe for consumption (UV treatment and micro filtering); it was closer to filtered water than anything else.

Odourless, colourless and tasteless.

Who tried it, said the beer came out just fine.

Using treated waste water for cooling datacenters would be trivial. And cheap.

I stand corrected.

Never used it for personal ends. But I’m curious to see if all the companies using as a work tool will divert from it.

Stupid, despicable, divisive, angry individuals are plentiful. Small minds that feel empowered through anonimity and the sense of security coming from attacking other from their own space.

I don’t need to tolerate them but you also don’t need to allow their vitriole to poison your mind and sap your well being. It is not worth it.

Start by your own privacy.

I boarded that train about twenty years ago. I tried the evangelizing route. I failed miserably. Which led me to care for myself first and foremost.

I started by abandoning Windows. Not of my own volition; I bought a computer that had no OS. Enter Linux. None of my family, friends or acquaintances understood. It was all about the convinience. When my machines started outperforming while outliving theirs, it caused a ripple.

Then came the usual slew of questions: where can I get a free anti-virus, office, media reader, whatever? That was when I introduced FOSS. After the initial resistance, things just settled into place. LibreOffice works. VLC works. PeaZip works. Thunderbird works. Etc.

When smartphones became a thing, I started moving as fast as I could towards FOSS. This made things a bit more laughable as “free” android applications are ubiquous. But they fill your phone with junk and ads. While my apps provided me ease of use, safety, security and privacy.

But when push came to shove, I just refused to join. First I left FBMessenger. I never boarded Whatsapp. I never entered Instagram or any major social networks. I discovered Signal and remained there.

It’s my way or no way.

And it scares people.

Unfortunately, stupid heartless people are a dime a dozen.

A couple that lived near me had a little thai cat, a sweet of an animal. They would let the cat out daily.

At some point, they just decided to leave the country and abandoned the cat.

The creature became the neighbourhood boss. Killed several males in fights, some even larger, fought off dogs, became a ferouscious hunter and never agaim entered a house.

That cat was king of the street for three years until one of his own blood dethrowned him.

Ren&Stimpy had some gruesome stuff. Courage was more on the horror side.

It’s good to know proper study has been done but you can talk with any smoker and infer - if they don’t admit it openly - from their words they use cigarettes to ease off the stress. And when the nicotine fails, it’s ugly to see.

Does self hosting, at home, really pays off nowadays, or does hiring server space is a mandatory requirement?

I’m going to risk that going back to personal websites would be a blast. And people would enjoy it.
