  • It’s a custom protocol that uses SSL/TLS for key exchange and such, so it can be detected. It’s actually causing huge problems for many large Russian companies, as it’s common to use those protocols for remote access, work, etc.

As mentioned in the article you need something like “Shadowsocks” to avoid protocl blocking, since it fully disguises the traffic as standard SSL/TLS. Which was created for, and is still used to circumvent this type of blocking in “the great firewall of china”.

The ceo is a bigoted asshole, Brave is chromium, it was initially funded by Peter Thiel and they’re literally just trying to make their own adsense network.

The self-proclaimed privacy focused browser is tracking your browsing and want to serve you personalized ads, and I think they want to use that tracking data for AI training as well, meaning other people can potentially access it.

And lets not forget about their crypto currency that you can earn by turning on special ads. Which they seemingly unironically called it “Basic Attent Tokens”…

TL;DR: The company is basically a sham company trying to usher in a dystopia. Where you’ll get paid for staring at ads, while having all your data stolen and sold back to you.

  • With the TL;DR being: Google/Alphabet wants to more easily block non-chrome browsers ability to use their services, and prevent the use of adblocking.

Which also means that many people using accessability tools will be unable to access them. And they are trying to get Firefox to implement it as well, so they don’t take all the blame when shit hits the fan and they start getting multi-billion dollar monopoly fines from the EU.

  • For reference, it’s a really good band and Mint Jams is awesome! Specially if you like upbeat jazz with keyboard, synth, and electric guitar, sometimes sax.

Although a lot more people, specially weebs, have heard the first song on that album than have ever heard of the band. As it’s common on playlists in the City Pop genre(if you like the first song, look up more city pop. )

    Fun facts:

    • The album is actually remixed live recordings with the audience mostly removed and without re-recording/dubbing any instruments, and recorded with the intent to make studio quality. So it sounds amazing.

    • The “mint” part does in fact refer to the songs/album being “mint”, meaning good. The “jams” part actually references that it’s live recordings as well.

    • On top of that it is also an arragement of the band members first and last initials(IN, MM, TS, AJ).

    • Released in 1982 it was their seventh album, second live, and after having released ~40 albums in total. It is still considered their best.

  • Deleting it goes against the premise of “No stupid questions”. Hiding information in a place literally made to give out information without judging the question, is literally the opposite of the intent.

Many questions posted here are easily answer through wikipedia, and people might ask them in a place like this for a multitude of reasons. One of them being that they avoid looking it up directly as a way to limit themselves getting triggered from the pictures or text that might be there, and just want a more summarized answer to their question.

  • One important thing to note is that for many it hurts a lot less than you’d think, basically feeling like a light scratch.

Wikipedia has more detailed information and sources:

Those who engage in self-harm face the contradictory reality of harming themselves while at the same time obtaining relief from this act. It may even be hard for some to actually initiate cutting, but they often do because they know the relief that will follow. For some self-harmers this relief is primarily psychological while for others this feeling of relief comes from the beta endorphins released in the brain.

Endorphins are endogenous opioids that are released in response to physical injury, acting as natural painkillers and inducing pleasant feelings, and in response to self-harm would act to reduce tension and emotional distress. Many self-harmers report feeling very little to no pain while self-harming and, for some, deliberate self-harm may become a means of seeking pleasure.

  • An abnormal amount of lawsuits are settled because the prosecution is pushing serious charges they might not be able to prove. Then scare people into settling by using the drawn out cost of lawsuits, long waiting times for trials(not getting out on bail until trial), etc. Since many people would rather take an average to low sentence from theft rather than risking minium sentencing from armed robbery, or would rather take a low offer from the defendant as settlement instead of waiting years for anything while spending a lot.
