Why is it designed this way? Someone could upload illegal materials for example and that content still remains on the server. Wouldn’t that be a huge liability for instance hosters?

Who’s behind this new push to stop piracy? The NFL? It’s gotta be coming from somewhere.
I used to use that but it makes it harder to find posts from smaller communities because they get less attention.
I use “Hot”, it’s nice.
Eh, I’ve praised aspects of Lemmy on the microblogging side of the Fediverse, I’m quite sure
I guess they view themselves as being censored from Threads? 🤷🏾♂️
I mean, boo hoo, it’s not like any of us are pretending that Meta supports free speech principles in practice…
There’s no reason to use it. They’re on the Fediverse, but federation doesn’t work too well. It’s somewhat inconsistent.
Sure they support free speech, but every free speech corner of the Fediverse runs on better software, and have more vibrant communities.
There’s some sort of NFT or crypto thing but I don’t think anyone uses it, I’ve never heard anyone praise or criticize it.
I used to be there, it’s not nearly as bad as Gab or Truth Social. Very cringey, but more like QuodVerum or Brighteon than those other sites.
No, it’s not. But there’s a general fear that spreading manifestos of terrorists could cause people to believe them. They did the same thing with Bin Laden’s manifesto.
For the record, I oppose this, it’s just that I can understand why this sort of thing is done.
I guess I didn’t come off how I intended to. Oops.
I would have provided a guide if I had followed one, but I learned how to use Handbrake using trial and error.
Google is easy enough to use that, generally speaking, if you know what software you want to use, you can probably find a guide on how to use it.
I love this idea. I think for now the closest thing to this would be creating a Lemmy community or a subreddit, restricting it to only yourself and posting the articles you want to share there. That would make an RSS feed that includes whatever articles you want.
Because Google isn’t down.
Ahhhhh my apologies. Then the ffmpeg guide someone else mentioned in the comments section should suffice.
I feel like there are like a billion guides on how to transcode with Handbrake.
It’s certainly a weakness, especially since the Lemmy echo chamber is ever more extremist than the echo chambers you’d find on a place like Reddit or Truth Social. But I don’t think it makes it uniquely bad. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
Does Friendica work as a Lemmy frontend?
I have always used APKMirror and APKPure
I completely agree.
Well that’s good
