I honestly believe that the Mexican cooks invented the burrito because everything inside, especially mushed together, looks fucking gross. But if you wrap it in a tortilla so you don’t have to look at it, it tastes fucking awesome.

“Calling all friends and people I met on the way down
Calling all friends and people I don’t even know
Calling on high I want to believe there’s a way now
I’m too tired to pretend I don’t want to be alone”

Very much Discworld. I shouldn’t have had to scroll this far down to find this shame on all y’all. The Night Watch series and The Witches series are my favourites and I do recommend reading series’s in order to but you can start practically anywhere if you want. Just remember the very first two books aren’t anyone’s favourites but are still good.

Kodi/XBMC - a little over 20 years ago I jailbroke my old X-Box gen 1 and after about a week I installed XBMC (X-Box Media Center), which was about 2 years old. I just was looking for a way to save space because I could fit a whole season of a show as AVIs on a single burned DVD and XBMC could be used to play it. 20 years and a name change later it’s still my TV front end. I’ve moved from a jailbroke X-Box to a Linux based media center PC but I still automatically boot to Kodi which plays anything I throw at it, keeps track of all the shows and movies I’ve watched, is front end for playing retro games and spawns Steam if I needed all off MCE remote and a Xbox controller to game with.

Craig T. Nelson is a huge asshole.

I’m jealous of you. You’re one of the lucky ten thousand today. Andor is a Star Wars property, but it’s an adult look at fascism and building a rebellion against it. One of the top ten series of the 2020’s really amazing writing.

But are you a legit snack?

Shake it like a Polaroid picture!

This is the right answer. 13 months of 4 weeks and an extra day on the last month.

Is it? I’m on a Lemmy instance and I use Voyager as my daily drive, so I’m pretty behind on Piefed. But that does sound like a good idea.

So if I understand you, Lemmy would benefit from a grouping above /c that’s not instance related? Like Usenet had the rec.cats group which spawned rec.cats.siamese? So maybe a /u universe? If I wanted to read about television I could go to u/television which could merge feeds of c/television@piefed.social and c/television@lemmy.world and any other c/television@.? I could see possibilities of abuse but we shouldn’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Maybe a /u could be an opt in thing with a manager of some kind to prevent unrelated /c’s from randomly joining.

I think of all the movies everyone has mentioned only the Rocky Horror Picture Show is the one I’ve seen more then three times in cinemas. Sure I’ve seen a lot of movies three or more times but only Rocky had Saturday night Midnight showings that I went to for a couple of years.
On second thought the local rep house also played Stop Making Sense for a few months for Friday night midnight dance parties and I’m pretty sure I went to 10 or 12 of those too.

I totally agree especially with the “everything I don’t like is capitalism” low quality comments. I’m pretty leftist myself and I love quality discussion about how to make the world a better, juster and fairer place, but lemmy is chock full of “capitalism bad” Doomerism. Tons of “the world is shit” and “you’re an evil neoliberal” for trying to make things better instead of just curling in ball of despair and gloom.

Just like Anthony Bourdain said
“I understand there’s a guy inside me who wants to lay in bed, smoke weed all day, and watch cartoons and old movies. My whole life is a series of stratagems to avoid, and outwit, that guy.”
I too have to avoid giving up and being that guy.

In some states in the US yes.

I’m a huge fan of Apollo I mean Voyager. I kid … I kid … Voyager is an awesome app and my daily drive for Lemmy. Pretty easy to use and not hard to look at either, but you really do need to use Dark Mode.

You may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, “Well, how did I get here?”
I’m a little worried that no one has mentioned Mystery Inc. yet. It’s probably the best version of Scooby-Doo ever done.
Also look in to Clone High both the 2002 version and the 2023 restart. It’s a really fun show more for teenagers and the blueprint that Total Drama Island ripped off. It’s also the very first time Miller and Lord, of Spider-verse and Hail Merry fame, got to run a show.
