At least on something like Instagram they’d be around people their age and not a mostly older men demographic posting about politics 24/7 like the Fediverse is.
Exactly, yes.
Is there any indication for the lemmy.world people to notice that the instance hosting the community is gone?
I don’t think there is but I remember the lemmy devs saying they’ll add a warning at some point when a community can’t be reached.
Do all the other Lemmy instances keep a copy of the content from lemm.ee?
Yes, but it only keeps text and links, any images uploaded to lemm.ee will be lost. Any community in lemm.ee will still be visible but nobody outside of your instance will see anything you post there so they’re effectively dead.
I’m going to be real, the Fediverse is not where you want young teens and kids to be. A lot of extreme opinions are floating around, and the Fediverse still has the occasional spamwave which could contain NSFW content.
I think you need to go to public feeds --> Add remote feed, then add the ones linked in the post
Wholesome: People are applying for more membership cards as wars escalate and thousands of missiles are being fired at people’s homes. Uplifting news!
But if Lemmy ever got anywhere near as popular we would absolutely have minimum reputation requirements to create posts.
The people yearn for the digital anime waifus
This was patched, and the vast majority were just fetching thumbnails.
Zen browser is basically FireFox made to look like Arc
Not sure unfortunately.
What advantages/disadvantages does it have over Lemmy?
It has more features, such as flairs, a way to move communities somewhere else, the ability to see comments from all crossposts, multi-communities, and it has a much faster development pace. The UX still needs some work, but that can be improved over time.
From a technical perspective it’s made with Python which is much, much easier to use than Rust and attracts more contributors. From what I understand it’s easier to host too.
Can I see and interact with PieFed instances and communities from a federated Lemmy instance? What about the other way around?
Yes and yes.
Is there a way for people to migrate an account from Lemmy to PieFed? What about the other way around?
You can export your Lemmy account settings and import them to Piefed, but not the other way around.
What android app options are available for PieFed?
Wikipedia has a lot more donors, but also their costs are probably cheaper than Signal. They mostly host text and decently compressed images, Signal uses way more bandwidth and people share high quality videos and other huge files. The servers are very expensive, there were articles estimating their cost to be around $50M per year.
Also the implication is blatantly wrong because slavery has been a thing since the dawn of mankind.
He said the N word once when he got mad in a video game, and another time made an edgy joke. In both cases he apologized shortly after, and while I don’t even like Pewdiepie it’s a stretch to call him a nazi/nazi apologist…
Makes sense., something as huge and expensive as Signal can’t run entirely on donations.
Using AI to quickly generate quizzes is cool, it saves time having to copy/paste basic questions from elsewhere
On the other hand, screw teachers using LLMs for grading. It’s unreliable and makes mistakes. Do your job.
