Telemate, by Tsung Hu, was one of the best pieces of DOS software I ever got to use. It featured internal multitasking via its own file reader and composer. With every other terminal program out there if you wanted to create a new file or use a scratch pad you had to exit the program first and load something else.

With telemate you could download a text, open it in the internal reader, then start copying bits over to the internal composer and then cut and paste the whole thing back into the terminal. This was godlike power at the time.

It had a slew if other really useful comm program features, the file downloading system was super tight and had every protocol, the local file browser was really nice. ansi and other graphics support was superb.

I eventually put it into autoexec.bat so my 286 would boot right into telemate. I was terminally online when online barely existed 😅

I learned to program thanks to this app. I used it to dial up and access shell accounts so i could IRC and MUD. I made friends I still talk to today through it. For years it was my daily companion.

If i could celebrate one single DOS app it would be the humble yet amazing Telemate by Tsung Hu (who went by Winfred Hu at the time)

I ran a BBS under DESQview X and it worked flawlessly!

it took me a year of contacting every site that threw my personal info up on google and a few had to be contacted multiple times but i was able to scrub 99% of my presence on the google serps anyway with this method.

I was on in the 80’s! My first touch was using USENET through WWIVNET via local bulletin boards.

My relative was working for the government at the time and let me use their account to get my first direct access where i was able to use gopher.

I joined one of the first commercial ISPs to finally get that sweet PPP access for my slackware box and I was finally able to use IRC from my home computer. I spent so much of my time there making friends and learning and having fun.

The bases were interesting! Getting an interplanetary production system going took some figuring and i never got an inter-system network up. If the mod scene keeps going for it they sure have a lot to work with!

I am one of the 10 people on earth who really enjoyed playing Starfield. The space combat seemed like a love letter to the old Wing Commander series, the art design was beautiful, there was a lot of fun content. I think i made it to NG7 before they took it off the free to play. When it’s on sale i can’t wait to grab it.

by comparison i hated The Outer Worlds which was the first ‘it’s like fallout in space!’ that was promised so i was tickled when Starfield actually was like fallout in space.

idk i’m pushing 5 decades and i ferment my own habanero hot sauce cuz i can’t buy anything hotter. I eat gochujang with pretty much everything. The only time i have ever suffered from hot things is when i ate one of those One Chip Challenges. I usually stay away from capsaicin extracts/concentrations but my kid wanted to do it. My stomach hurt for about 30 minutes then stopped, that was the extent of it!

the problem is just elevating your heartrate without exercise your body won’t dilate your blood vessels to accommodate the faster blood traffic. This makes for lots more collisions between the blood cells and the intersections where blood vessels diverge, causing low grade damage to the system that builds up over time.

When your muscles activate with your heart the blood vessels all dilate and the blood pumps much smoother.

generally reclamation is framed as positive usage only. I just learned about this recently myself with the word bitch. Calling my girl friends bitches in a nice way, when i’m not angry and mean it to be endearing is reclamation.

Calling another woman (like jk rowling) a bitch when i don’t like her or her actions is misogynistic even though i’m a woman, because it’s being used to tear down/degrade.

I think the same logic applies to this, a gay man calling his friends the f slur endearingly is fine, but using it hatefully is no different than a straight person doing it.
