Whoa! No that’s not what I got at all! And if you click into what looks like a still image you’re suddenly in a feed of videos. Who knows what their UX is doing.
Isn’t this a screenshot from Twitter/X?! So - probably a bot.
I’m not American, but downloaded RedNote (Little Red Book) to see what the fuss was about and it’s been a charming experience. I’m particularly loving the cooking videos!
Very very interesting to see normal Americans and normal Chinese people have discussions together on a social media app. And for them to show each other “slice of life” videos. Probably the first time that this has ever happened?
Utterly hilarious situation, tbh.
What a great idea - thank you!!
Can confirm - my husband and I started reading to each other years ago. It’s not all the time, maybe a couple of books a year, but always on holiday - it’s an awesome way to be together rather than each stuck into your own book world.
Would recommend!
Reminds me of the Netflix show “American Factory” about a Chinese factory opening in the US.
Quite a fascinating clash of cultures.
Yeah this was the main take-away for me, too. You’d expect they’d have ironclad QA when doing shit like this.
Found this post that explains what happened in detail: https://lemmy.ohaa.xyz/post/3522666
As an application developer (rather than someone who can/does code operating systems) I was just left open-mouthed …
Looks like they’re delivering “code as content” to get around the rigour of getting an updated driver authorised by MS. I realise they can’t wait too long for driver approval for antivirus releases but surely - surely - you have an ironclad QA process if you’re playing with fire like this.
Outstanding. You don’t often see content this good.
I think what’s more interesting from those charts isn’t just the divergence between genders - it’s that (with the obvious exception of S Korea - what on earth is going on in that country??) men’s attitudes have slightly trended more conservative whereas women’s attitudes have radically changed to more liberal.
Please please please please do so
My sister in law was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, after having covid - at the age of 61 …

Even if the former Twitter engineers were working on Threads - so what?
I have had to demonstrate relevant skills and experience for every job I’ve ever applied for (beyond junior/trainee). This is just how the world works.
It’s almost like Musk doesn’t understand how enormously normal it is to use skills and experience gained in one job when you go to the next one.
And it’s not like Twitter has special IP - it’s a fairly straightforward system; the only difficulty is scale which Meta will already know all about.
This guy just needs to let this go! He’s wasting his life on this. Even if he finds it in the next decade - honestly I’m not sure it’s worth it.
