(Disclaimer: I voted against Trump and anyone who supported him in my state.)

Luckily the House of representatives have set up the rules such that they can call to change their majority leader whenever they disagree with each other, so very few actual policies will change. They might even fail to pass their own tax plan again, that would be nice.

What is fucked is USA’s allies depending on support from NATO, USA’s economy as Tariff season is here now, USA immigrants, and of course the Environment. Last time Trump was in he removed protections for forests and streams, and put a Coal Lobbyist in charge of the EPA.

A bunch of things did get changed during the last presidency because of the Republican majority.

Healthcare, internet privacy, hell even how mail got delivered.

If it’s not from policy changes, it’s from gutting the department and putting in cronies willing to sabotage the industry. You brought up environment policies, yeah those are gonna die.

The House isn’t stuck with that though. They can amend the rules for the next session, and I’d imagine any speaker worth his salt would demand that rule be stricken because it is unworkable.

But in order to ammend the rules they first have to agree on it. Any speaker who opposes it can just be deposed because of the rule.

I know I’m being overoptimistic but I have high hopes for it.

In a new session isn’t there no speaker until one is elected with any rules?

Just don’t accept the rules and go into another cycle of endless votes for speaker.
