Was called Bump. And then Apple introduces it this year as if it’s some new thing.
I have no idea why sharing files between devices has to be so complicated. Bring the devices close together, get NFC connected, use P2P wifi to send the files. This is not that difficult.
How has that not been a feature from the beginning?
Google is so big that the right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing and they can’t even have a cohesive platform of features.
It’s a podcast. Most people listen to it while doing other things and don’t watch it in a single sitting.
If you don’t want to watch it, then don’t, but it really is a great podcast.
I don’t know, if you’re getting yourself in that kind of situation, you should know you’re going to be beforehand, so just get a satphone.
But I guess it’s better to have it and not need it.
Thanks. They knew they could use that sentence as the headline, but determined they wanted to go with the clickbait.
The power of the sun… In the palm of my hand
The BEST place by far is on the back. With the Pixel 2, I could have the phone unlocked before I even take it out of my pocket because I could place my finger in the exact right spot.
It also served as a shortcut to pull down the notification shade.
That’s a pretty unlikely scenario though. Someone would be better off just selling your phone at that point.
Because how is a thief going to get a perfect video of you to play to the camera?
Based on how full-in they’re going with Pixel and AI, it’ll most likely be a combination of #2 and #3.
They’ll abandon the current version for some other incompatible version, leaving everyone using the current version SOL.
Google can’t be trusted for long-term product and feature support.
What are you talking about? Apple should be lauded for at least having the phone tiers that they have. There’s choice for every type of buyer. The 15 pro vs pro max is 3x zoom and 5x zoom. That’s IT. You get the same features between each pro phone and get to choose the size that works for you.
Google has hamstrung the smaller phone with a worse screen, much worse camera system (video boost is locked to 8 Pro), no temperature sensor, slower wireless charging speeds, less RAM, gorilla glass Victus 1 vs 2, and an annoyingly glossy back glass.
I bought an 8 Pro for the camera system because I didn’t want to be locked out of the better ultra wide and telephoto, but I wish I could have gotten that in a smaller size.
Seriously. We can’t just let Apple off the hook for their anti-competitive walled garden.
Users should continue to demand that they support the more open standard.
Compressed as all hell, but I really like the dynamic range and color grading in those photos.
Those screen bezels are absolutely tiny.
For the rumored extra $200 price tag, it’s disappointing that they aren’t including the better gorilla glass Victus 2, Qi2 charging, UWB, and UFS 4.0 on the Pixel 8.
At least include the more durable glass, Qi2, and UWB. This is going to make the phone pretty out of date just by the spring. Especially because of the tendency for Pixels to get much worse over time.
I’m a forever Android fan, but I’m getting jealous of the quality and consistency of iPhones. I just wish I could find that kind of hardware quality in something other than Samsung (because I can’t stand their software).
That’s real ugly.
I do wish they’d stuck with the Panda look from the Pixel 2 for a while longer. It was much better looking than the visor.
But as far as “Google” phones go, the Nexus 6P was the best hardware they’ve had and they’ve not come close since.
Tidal. I use it because Id gotten tired of Spotify and YouTube Music’s BS
I just recently left YTM for Tidal and have been really enjoying the scaled-back lack of algorithmic social BS. Tidal is about the music and the artists, almost none of the social stuff and algorithms that try to get you to spend every waking moment on the app. I have the same issue with Spotify. They have a live sharing feature, but you can turn it off so that you don’t see any of it.
It’s like if you had a music player for just the music files you own, but it’s streaming.
I’m absolutely done with YTM and all its bullshit.
8 GB of signal chats? You can clear some of that data up. Delete useless memes and years-old chats. That’s not a storage space issue, it’s a management issue.
I honestly think most people who complain about storage space are bad at managing their storage space.
Unless you’re a photographer by trade and need all your photos on hand in RAW format (even though good photographers have storage drives on hand), you don’t need 200+ GB of media.
Download what you need for however long you need it, then delete it when you’re done. Nobody is going through 200GB of music, shows, and movies frequently enough to need it on hand at all times.
As I’ve heard it, it’s much less of a problem when you’re looking at it straight on and out of bright sunlight. I think it was Honor that released a foldable last year that nearly eliminated it. So they’re close to minimizing it as much as they can
