  • Unfortunately people always go on the “shock site” boards like /b/ and /pol/ instead of checking out the more niche ones like /po/ (papercraft and origami) and /tg/ (traditional games) which are much more like regular hobbyist forums/image boards. I can see why one awful experience would sour the whole thing though and some of the people who post there are sad excuses for human beings.

Edit: Just as an example this is the oldest thread on 4chan at the moment. It was created in 2016 and is still active. It catalogues OP’s struggle to make an origami clock.

  • Back in the day it was just OpenOffice and LibreOffice. When did OnlyOffice come out? And, more importantly, did they call it that after OnlyFans became famous for some reason?

Edit: have done some googling and I thibk personally I’ll be sticking with Libreoffice. I can see the utility for Windows folks making a switch but I often find open source tools which do not try to copy the proprietary alternative. Some of the best FOSS like Krita were successful because they broke the mold of slavishly copying UX and tools from bigger companies. Ditto with Godot to an extent.

Btw it was indeed called OnlyOffice after OF had taken off. Their name change was in 2022. Maybe I can sub to clippy and get him to uncurl! FOSS projects are so bad with naming and logos.

  • Never considered the “voters are stupid and greedy” angle… but they are so you might be right here.

The main argument against NIT which I’d always heard was that you were losing the savings on administration that UBI has. In theory with UBI you can get rid of all disabilities and public pensions beaurocracy and means-testing since everyone gets the same lump sum.

NIT has some form of means-testing since you need to catalog who earns what to find those in need.
