A pediatric neurologist told me definitively that my oldest son did not have autism. After a year of no improvement and assuming he was a particularly hard to diagnose, I got on the wait-list at the local university medical hospital. They were able to diagnose him quickly (apparently he’s pretty text book, but the pediatric neurologist didn’t ask the right questions). But he had been without supporting therapies and help in school for years as a result of the misdiagnosis.
My other kid (also autistic) had an ear ache. The urgent care doc was unfamiliar with how to deal with an autistic kid and assumed he didn’t have an ear infection. The next day his ear drum burst and we ended up at the big children’s hospital.
In both cases we had huge delays in appropriate care and had to pay twice.

Profit share is something I’ve done with my own business and feel like it produces better outcomes for everyone (we measure our impact on customers, employees, owners, the business and community to make sure we are serving all of them). I’m looking into actually granting shares, so it is more real for the employees. Maybe other owners don’t do it because it does require some amount of effort and transparency into company performance. IMO, owners can be really lazy.

It has taken me, on average, 6 months to find new work each time I do it and I send hundreds of resumes. So I think you are doing the right things. It just sucks. Sometimes you can get a lead from someone you know and that gets your foot in the door.
Remember, you are reviewing them as an employer too. If they have a shitty applicant experience, that should play into your decision process (easier said than done when you just want to make rent).

I’m old enough that my early adulthood did not include cell phones (unless you count the brick phones), and certainly no Internet access. I enjoyed it more.
I know this isn’t an awesome answer, but safety is more important than standing your feminist ground sometimes: either go to another yoga class or bring a friend. It sux to rearrange your life because of some weirdo, but less than being attacked. Also, consider keeping mace or a whistle on you in case there is a confrontation.
Everyone gets a 2 week break around Christmas and New Years. I work intermittently on stuff that has to get done, like payroll, but otherwise rest and hang out with my family.
